Vintage Hand Made Advent Calendar

This is the advent calendar I grew up with as a child. My most creative and talented Mom made it with fabric. Now as an adult I get to hang it in my  house and my children put ornaments on it each day of the month.  Most of the little ornaments are wooden and some are felt circles with charms sewn on the front.  I have it hung in my craft room that is near the kitchen. The boards on either side now display holiday cards and a few ornaments.

Here is a close up where you can see the little hooks.

This advent calendar has so much sentimental value for me. Not only was it made by my Mom, but every year for the past 33 years I've hung ornaments on it.  I hope my children appreciate it as much as I do.

This little bird was found in the $1 bins at Michaels.  The polka dot pattern match the advent calendar fabric and has a vintage feel to it.

The counterpart to the red, the green checkered bird.

Do you celebrate Christmas with an advent calendar?  They are such a fun way to count down to Christmas.

Must be time to make some new tiny Pearson ornaments for the advent tree :)

Good idea mom! I still cherish the felt circles with charms on them. Maybe I'll come up with some to replace the store bought ones I found some time ago.
