Shared Boys Room -Navy and Mint

Seems like we scampered to finish the kid's rooms first so they could feel settled in the new home. The boy's shared room is just about complete. Just waiting to find another set of curtains and two matching desk chairs, but thought I would go ahead and share their room. It's a lovely mix of Navy Blues, mint greens, and gray thrown in for good measure.  Here's how their room looks! They have new flooring, new wall and ceiling paint, new crown molding, DIY shelving, and new lighting (ceiling and sconces.) Hope you enjoy.

The "old" dresser and blue shelf are from the old house. The art work next to it is a needlepoint stitched by my Grandmother.

Here's an up close shot of the wall color and a peak down our hallway.

I love how their shelf rack blends in with the wall. Gives the wall depth and texture and almost feels built-in.

We cut the shelves from scrap wood and stained them gray. I found the shelf brackets at Lowes. The desk was a Habitat Restore find that I painted.

The photograph in this picture was taken in Seward Alaska on a trip Joe and I took before the kids came along. And the Antelope headdress is from my son's end of year African drumming performance.

The stick on wall map came from a local store here in Durham called "Morgan's Imports."

Three long narrow shelves create space for the boys to display their action figures and Pokemon decks.

I just love how their beds turned out.  They each got 3 coats or so of Mint Spray paint by Valspar. I painted them when we first moved in and let them sit in the garage to air out until the room was totally complete.

The gold light fixture has a nautical feel and the curtains too, gray and white stripe curtains are Tommy Hilfiger.

The Gray round tables on either side of their beds were also awesome Restore finds.  I love that they each have tables for their things.  They also got their initials above their beds in case they forget which side to sleep on!

That window needs curtains, but never mind that.. :) they will come. That door is to their massive walk-in closet! This room is 12' x 18' by the way, a great shared space room if you ask me.  Glad they wanted to share.

I love my son's Dream Catcher he made in school. Perfect art work.  The lamps above their beds sport vintage light bulbs.

Peaking inside their closet, I hung their glow-in-the-dark solar system in there. The walls and light fixture and organization will get updated at some point.

The flooring extends into the closet and record crates make great pajama and toy storage.

I fell in love with this clock from Target. A great way for the kids to always know what time it is. And you can see the cute Pipe Curtain rods I picked up as well. A little nod to Industrial era design.

A view from the front windows of all the construction going on. Some day soon we'll have a cute green park out there.

The view from the side window with the pond in the distance.

Here's the other cool side table and a cloth basket of my son's "friends."

I just loved this anchor scrap book paper so I had a buy a piece and frame it in my $1 gold vintage frame.  Perfect for their room.

That concludes the room tour. Hope you enjoyed it. See source list below.
