White Feather wreath

Our big hexagonal mirror (more on how we built that later) looked a little bland without anything over it for our holiday mantle. Until, I made this lovely white feather wreath to hang over it.

At A.C. Moore in Durham I found 10 packs of white feathers, although for this project I only used 5 packs.  So I'll be returning the other packs.  I used a grape wreath which cost $6.99. The feathers were $1.59 per pack.  Since the wreath was brown in color, I took it outside and sprayed it white using this spray paint I already had.

Here is the wreath lying on the ground with it's first coat of paint.  If you do this project, I would suggest painting the back as well, especially if you'll be hanging it in front of a mirror because the mirror will reflect the brown on the backside.

I used my hot glue gun to glue the feathers in rows across, all the way around overlapping each row of feathers. When it was dry, I found some green ribbon (also bought at A.C. Moore, but a while back) to wrap around the top.

I used a single nail to hang it above the mirror. It's so small you can hardly notice it. I also got lucky and happened to nail it to a stud in the wall (instead of just the dry wall.) Usually you should try to find a stud before nailing so you have extra support for hanging things, but it was most important to me to have the wreath centered.

This wreath was so fun to make and so easy.  Some year I hope to make a button wreath, when I can get my hands on a whole bunch of white buttons.

Have you ever made a wreath? I would love to see it.

I was wondering if you ever considered changing the structure of your blog?
Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of
content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one
or two images. Maybe you could space it out better?

Hmm it seems like your website ate my first comment (it was extremely long)
so I guess I'll just sum it up what I submitted and say, I'm thoroughly
enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blog blogger but
I'm still new to everything. Do you have any tips for
inexperienced blog writers? I'd certainly appreciate it.
