Navy & White curtains

My Mom wondered how I would tie the curtains over the closet in my daughter's room in with the curtains over the window. Truth be told, I didn't really tie them together! Maybe it's a design mistake.  The only way I tied them into the whole look of the room was by using the same Navy blue ribbon in both.  On the closet door curtains, I used the ribbon as tie backs. For the window curtains I literally sewed four rows of ribbon to make stripes across the bottom.

I found some plain grommet white curtains on clearance at Target.  I love searching the clearance section of stores, you can usually find great deals.  They were repackaged, but otherwise not damaged at all.  They were actually 95" in length which I thought would be too long so I thought I was going to have to hem them, but it turns out, they look better hanging near the ceiling.

I used my hem gauge to make sure my ribbon was equally spaced and pins to hold them in place. Then I sewed down both edges and folded the extra ribbon around to the back. Luckily I already had some blue thread on hand.

Here they are hung in my daughter's room.  They look so summery and a bit preppy, but I love how they turned out.

The rod is new and from Overstock.com.  It has capiz finials which work so perfectly with the room.  Thankfully, Joe installed it pretty quickly so I could get these babies hung.

E.claire is enjoying opening up her blinds and admiring the view outside.

Have you tried altering curtains to your room? Did you line up your stripes better than me so they both match? Goodness me, just noticed how different from each other they are.  So tough getting them to be identical!  Maybe I'll have better luck next time.

Have a great week!
