One Evening when I was incredibly bored and the kids were asleep I applied it my bookshelf in the living room. First I applied some interior latex primer and then two coats of light gray paint that I already owned for the background. I taped off the edges and painted it on with a paint brush. Then I started working with the stencil. I used a stencil brush also from Royal Design Studio and a little paint cup. I made sure to wipe most of the paint off of my brush after dipping so paint would not drip behind the stencil.

Bookshelf Stencil
One of the stencil's I also won from Young House Love's giveaway was Royal Design Studio's Eastern Lattice.

I knew the bottom two shelves would be hidden by baskets so I just did the top two sections of the bookcase.
