Damask Rug

We got a new rug!  Plus it was free.  Gotta love that!  It's the same as this one on Overstock, but in the 9' x 12' size. It's called Gray Damask made from Olefin. With three small children, we wanted them to have something soft underfoot to play on, but also wanted a pattern that would potentially hide stains and be easy to care for. Here it is laid out in our living room.

Here's another angle.  We love that it's a big print, but not overwhelming for the room.  It's super soft too.  It also covers most of the floor, which the kids love.  You're probably wondering how we got it for free. Well it happened like this. The rug showed up slightly opened on the end, with slight fraying on the edge.  I wrote to Overstock that it was damaged thinking they would pick it up and send me another one. Instead they immediately credited my account and told me Fed Ex would show up in 10 days to inspect it and pick it up. Overstock said to discard it after 10 days if Fed Ex doesn't show up. So I waited 10 days for them to come and they never came.  I didn't want to just throw it away in a landfill, so I am going to try to repair the fraying on one side. It's not too bad, I can probably just glue it.  We got a pretty good deal on it, with a 10% off coupon and free shipping. Plus it was on sale for 15% off.  So if had to buy another one we would probably have to spend an additional $100.

Here's a little close-up of the rug.

Our living room is just about finished. Hopefully by next week we can show you the finished room. Stay tuned!

p.s. Here's a little Shel Silverstein quote that I love.
I will not play tug o' war. I'd rather play hug o' war. Where everyone hugs instead of tugs, Where everyone giggles and rolls on the rug, Where everyone kisses, and everyone grins, and everyone cuddles, and everyone wins.
