More birthday fun

My son celebrated his 6th birthday last weekend and I thought I would share a quick blog post about this birthday cake and his banner that I made. It was a low-key birthday with just one friend over for a movie outing (they saw The Pirates) and a sleepover. They had so much fun! They were silly kids playing with their Bey Blades and eating pizza and cake.  Here's Charlie's "Mario Kart" cake before I put on the mushroom.

This is the last of my birthday banners I'll be making since my other two children have theirs already. Here is the tutorial on how I made it if you're curious.

The colors I chose for Charlie's banner were gray and white scrap book paper and yellow paint. I was lucky that one of the sheets of paper included this awesome saying by Henry David Thoreau "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life that you have imagined." So fitting for a birthday banner. I removed the graduation cap that was on here by clipping it off.

We already had the black, white, and yellow balloons. What a happy accident. Didn't have to spend a dime. Not that I want to short change my son's birthday, but it's always nice to save some money.

Other than this mantle banner and balloons, we kept the decorations low key since it was just a sleep over and not a full fledge party.  But we hope this made our son feel special and can enjoy this banner for many birthdays.

Love Nanny's Home Sweet Home stitchery on the mantle :)
