Kitchen Disaster week 2

What a long and exhausting day.  I woke up with a cold and the house still a mess. I had about 20 things to take care of from figuring out our dental insurance to what type of flooring to get.  There were many decisions to be made and all I wanted to do was sleep.    I wasn't sure the flooring person was going to show up today since I got a call from our Project Manager saying that he was going to be late for personal reasons and may or may not show up.  So I didn't hold my breath.  In the meantime I got one person to come out and look at the wall we want to open up. I should have a quote by tomorrow.  I also sold 15 cloth diapers today for $100. Not bad for doing hardly any work.   So around 2:00 the flooring guy actually shows up.  His name is Jeff and he's from San Diego.  I actually knew he was a Californian just by how he was dressed and the way he talked. Too funny.  Anyway enough jibber jabber.  You're probably wondering what flooring we chose.   So while Jeff worked away tearing up more flooring and installing new plywood subfloor the flooring company showed up with some samples.

We really wanted to stay within our insurance allowance and not go over and since our insurance company is covering to replace laminate we chose to just stick with more laminate. Our hearts weren't set on bamboo and we really didn't like any of the color choices.  Hardwood was just out of the question for us because of the height of the current floors. The flooring company would have charged more to cut into doorways.  We have also decided to order enough flooring to cover the entire house, which we'll have to set aside some time to accomplish!

But alas, we chose: Kronotex, The Wilmington Collection in Jasper Oak.  It has a rustic weathered wood look with a textured surface.  It's pretty awesome with his dark gray tones!  I couldn't be happier with our choice.

This photo makes it look more brown than it is. I really does read within the gray shades.

Can't wait to show you the finished kitchen!!
